Nicola Battistoni is the crazy variable of Italian SEO. I had the pleasure of meeting him and I assure you that he is a gentle giant in many ways, not least his ability to reflect on things. Today I offer you a guest post written by him, in which he talks about the case study that made him popular, the one on amatriciana. Not many "experts" have managed to obtain a result like this, so I suggest you read carefully, it's worth it. How it all started The story I am about to tell, thanking Francesco for the space he gives me, is that of a test created to demonstrate the existence and effectiveness of Topic-N , which turned into a resounding success in SERP, going well beyond expectations. The story begins in February 2015. I had recently approached the world of SEO and was studying and applying the things I learned or absorbed during the courses and readings I was doing at the time.
One of these readings was, coincidentally, the SEO Gardening Manual and, having reached the Topic-N part, an idea strikes me. It was the period of controversy between Carlo Cracco and the Municipality of Amatrice : the subject of Denmark Telegram Number Data the dispute was the poached garlic which - according to the chef - made his amatriciana better. Do you want to see, I tell myself, that if I mix Cracco and Amatriciana I can place a post inside an unknown blog with practically no content? Said and done: I create the post following the "basic rules of SEO", that is, focusing on content and onpage optimization (including the use of microdata). I post it and forget about it, waiting for something to move.
Four months later, the post achieved decent results: on the front page for the target dry KW (amatriciana sauce) and on the front page for the "topic" KW (cracco amatriciana sauce). It also ends up on the front page for “amatriciana sauce”. Since SEO is about sharing, I write a post where I tell what I did and how. I decide to raise the level of the test. I notice an available EMD: the post becomes a single-page site. At this point in the story, the goal was to determine whether an EMD could have an impact, and if so what, on site rankings. Unless some typos are corrected, the post will not be modified. To improve usability by readers, a TOC (table of contents) is introduced which allows - thanks to internal anchors - to immediately reach the part of interest.
